Mirumoto Kei (Experienced)

L5R CCG Rules board, 16 December 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I saw the ruling here http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=71068&p=923337&hilit=kei#p923337 and was wondering why at the end of the turn were the delayed destruction takes place is not still covered by the anti-reaction clause of Mirumoto Kei (Experienced)'s action.

Wouldn't delaying the death cause the duel to stop at Step I and remaining steps of the duel until the end of turn were the action would finish resolving?

[Mod edit: Experience level added; please use complete card titles, and Experience levels if a a card has one, when asking questions. Thanks! - LH]

why [is] the delayed destruction [...] not still covered by the anti-reaction clause of Mirumoto Kei (Experienced)'s action[?]

Because this clause applies "while this action is being targeted and resolved" (card text). When the delayed destruction applies, at the end of that turn, this action's targeting and resolution both ended a long time ago.

No, delaying the duel's effect on the loser has no consequence on the other steps of this duel's resolution: all cards in focusing areas are discarded, any changes to their Focus Value ends, each player in the duel simultaneously puts any cards remaining in his or her focus pool at the bottom of his or her Fate deck in any order, focus pools and focusing areas cease to exist, the duel ends (per Challenges and duels).
