A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi. I have Hida Fujiki at a battlefield and Hida Kuon at home. I want to use Fujiki's ability in order to target Kuon and move him into the battle. My opponent reacts by playing Misdirection and decides to target Fujiki himself. Can I now use Fujiki's ability to move himself at a battlefield where he is already? Or am I forced to move him home?

HIDA FUJIKI: Battle: Move one of your target Personalities home or to this battlefield.

MISDIRECTION: Political Gozoku Reaction: Before another player would choose targets for one of his action’s effects during a battle, target one of your Courtier or Gozoku Personalities: You choose the targets instead.

You can choose to move your Hida Fujiki to the current battlefield even if he is already there, which just fails, per Choices: "A choice may be made even if its consequences would be negated or otherwise fail due to lack of suitable things to affect."
