A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Night Battle

Immediate Terrain Battle: No player without a Shugenja or a Shadowlands Personality in this battle can take actions for this battle except an action that destroys this Terrain.

If Night Battle is in play and a player has neither a Shadowlands nor a Shugenja Personality in the battle: can he take an action that would move a Shadowlands or Shugenja Personality into the battle?

I would assume the answer is no, due to card text. However I know the rule of presence is waived if an action would end up with the player having presence at the end of the action. I was wondering if said rule extended to encompass these circumstances.

No. It does not destroy the terrain (card text).
