Reverence for Chikushudo and Bayushi Saya

L5R CCG Rules board, 13 July 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi,

I control a random Water shugenja, let's say it's Isawa Mizuhiko, and no other Personalities. The other player has Bayushi Saya in play and targets Mizuhiko with Saya's action. I play Reverence to Chikushudo searching for Touch of Ice, show it, attach it and gain 2 honor. What happens next? I'd say nothing since RfC is not performed by the targeted personality as it doesn't target between two colons, but I wanted to know for sure.

Relevant text: Reverence for Chikushudo Limited: Target one of your Shugenja. Search your Fate deck for a non-Unique Spell with an ability that has one of his Element keywords. Show it and attach it to him (paying all costs). Gain 2 Honor if this attached a Spell.

Bayushi Saya Political Open: Target a Personality. After the next time this turn his controller assigns him or an action resolves that he performed, his controller loses Honor equal to his Personal Honor, then he is dishonored.

You are indeed correct, for the reason that you gave.
