Jackal's Kiss vs Hall of Ancestors

L5R CCG Rules board, 15 June 2008 to 16 June 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Jackal's Kiss removes the personality from play at the end of the turn as per its text.

Does it destroy the card then Remove From Game (RFG)?

Or does it just straight RFG?

If I target a non-unique in a discard pile of a player playing "The Hall of Ancestors" will its trait protect their personality from being RFG at the end of the turn? If so, are they destroyed instead? Or some other third nebulous option?

If it doesn't straight RFG the card, would Fatina trigger off the then implied destruction of the personality?

Thanks.

The latter. No where in the effect does it say anything about "destroying", so that doesn't happen.

Once you use Jackal's kiss to bring the Personality into play, he is no longer dead. If he is still not dead when the delayed effect of Jackal's Kiss occurs, the Stronghold cannot stop him from being whisked out of the game. If, however, you get the stolen Personality destroyed again before the turn ends, then he will again be dead and protected from removal.

Even though I've effectively answered this, I thought it bore underscoring:

There is no implication of destruction from effects that remove a card from play by any other means (removal from game/discarding from play); they don't destroy unless they say "destroy".
