heated discussion, Chi death and rehonoring

L5R CCG Rules board, 15 April 2008 to 16 April 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Question:

I play heated discussion, assigning personality A to oppose my opponent's personality B. He passes and I bow personality A to Kyuden Wasanenomoru to reudce person B's Chi to zero dishonoring him. My opponent flash of steels out of the battle, rehonoring his personality. Does personality B re-check his chi and become dishonored again, or does he ignore until the end of the heated discussion at which point he dies honorably?

I play heated discussion, assigning personality A to oppose my opponent's personality B. He passes and I bow personality A to Kyuden Wasanenomoru to reudce person B's Chi to zero dishonoring him. My opponent...

...Will never get to do what it is he wants to do.

http://rules.l5r.com/Card_features#Specific_stats: "This destruction from zero Chi is continuously applied. If a one-time triggered effect negates the personality's destruction from zero Chi, he is destroyed again immediately after the negation happens."

Dead before someone can play another card.

Additional: See posts below; ruling here is incorrect.

i thougth that during heated discussion: the death destruction was continously applied and that even with zero chi the death has to wait the end of heated discussion.

it seems to me that the following ruling implicitely uses that rule: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=62146&p=796174&hilit=heated+discussion#p796174 viewtopic.php?f=59&t=65476&p=841449&hilit=heated+discussion#p841449

does that means that the intercation chi death/heated discussion has changed?

The earlier ruling is incorrect. Thanks for the catch.

(We are having a couple of chats about this in the Rules Junta, though.)

Sorry, regarding this http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=67187

Zen, you said "The earlier ruling was incorrect". I'd just like to clarify what you mean...do you mean the "earlier ruling" that you made in the thread was incorrect, or the "earlier ruling" that doji itchiko cited was incorrect? In other words, does the personality reduced to 0C die at once, even if the reduction occurs during an ongoing Heated Discussion, or he dies once the Heated Discussion has "finished"?

The first one in this sequence. Will clarify in that post.
