Triumph of Courage Clarification

L5R CCG Rules board, 14 April 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Is it still under discussion?

I'm not a rules expert, but.... If wedge says "After this battle's Resolution Segment begins" and Triumph of Courage says "After each time this turn a Battle action resolves"

It seems they both have similar triggers "after something happens" The only difference is that Triumph happens more often

If it is an issue of overpower, perhaps you could change Triumph to say "while this personality is in play, he gains +1 force" or something like that

Anywho, was just really curious to see if there was a final ruling on this mo-fo

A new rule, quoted below, has been added to explain the difference between delayed effects and Triumph of Courage's effect, which enforced Marty's previous ruling: "Triumph of Courage 4".

"Parent" effects that can create an indefinite number of "child" effects whenever a certain condition is met in the future are different from delayed effects, which create definite effect(s) at a given time in the future. Example: In "After the next time this turn a Personality is destroyed, gain +1F" the +1F is a delayed effect; but, in "After each time this turn a Personality is destroyed, gain +1F" the +1F is not.
