Multiple You Die With Me's

L5R CCG Rules board, 21 March 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 21 March 2008

If I have a follower attached to one of my personalities and destroy a Hero of my opponent, can he react twice with You Die With Me! to first kill the follower, then the personality it was attached to?

Martin Lund (rules official), 21 March 2008

Heroic Reaction: After another player resolves a Battle action which destroyed one of your Hero Personalities: Destroy a target Follower, or Personality without Followers, in the current enemy army.

Well, Reactions are played and resolved one at a time. When a Hero personality is destroyed, the active player has the first opportunity to play a Reaction to his destruction, and then priority passes to the next player. This keeps going on until all players, in succession, Pass instead of taking a Reaction.

This means a player could play a copy of You Die With Me to destroy a Follower, then let everyone else have a chance to React, then play another copy of You Die With Me to kill the Personality that now has no Followers.
