I have searched and not found a solid answer. Can a Maws Grave player play Cursed Gift? I am willing to believe yes, since the loss is an effect, not a cost, therefore it is still playable, but the deck is going to Kotei in two days and I want to be absolutely certain. So please, Yes/No.

Not only can a Maw's Grave player play it, but a Spider's Lair or Ruined City player can play it too.
The Honor Loss is an effect. Having an effect fail doesn't mean the action is illegal.
