A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

The following questions are in regard the this post: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=65494
In the above post you cited a whole page. Could you cite the specific line or lines of CR text that applies?
" If the Unicorn player is Attacking, he gets to choose which Unicorn he wants to save from bowing. If the Unicorn player is Defending, he's probably going to get hosed. "
This quote is taken from the aforementioned post.
Is " hosed" some new type of rules jargon? Can you clarify?
Doesn't Unfamiliar ground have to trigger before Moto Chagatai xp5's trait NOT REACTION would trigger? So why is there a different outcome depending on whether the Unicorn army is attacking or defending?

I did. I included it in the quotation box. Do "ctrl + F" search of the linked page for "order of simultaneous triggers" and you'll see the exact line I quoted.

"Hosed," vernacular slang - "To be subject to an unfavorable or undesirable outcome without recourse."

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Read Moto Chagatai XP5 again:
"Before the first time each phase that another player's card's effect bows a Unicorn Clan Personality at Chagatai's location: Negate the bowing."
The key parts here are "the first time." It only triggers on the first time a Unicorn Clan Personality at Chagatai's location is going to bow. It only negates the single Personality getting bowed. They all bow simultaneously, so the Active Player has to decide which one is going to be "first" for the purposes of resolving the timing conflict. The Active Player will probably make a choice most in his favor, "hosing" his opponent.
