Would Infantry followers attached to Jairuzu prevent him from assigning during Cavalry Maneuvers if you are the Defender per his trait?
Mirumoto Jairuzu + Infantry Followers
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Would Infantry followers attached to Jairuzu prevent him from assigning during Cavalry Maneuvers if you are the Defender per his trait?
Yes.
http://rules.l5r.com/Special_wording_ru ... _to_things: "Restrictions in a card’s traits that don’t explicitly refer to anything are understood to refer to the card itself." Which here, means the Personality alone, not the unit.
RE: This.
I believe the above answer is incorrect.
It is asked if Infantry Followers on Mirumoto Jairuzu will prevent him assigning during Cavalry Maneuvers per his trait. Zen answered "Yes". His reasoning was that because the trait does not specify what it affects ("Can assign during Cavalry Maneuvers if you are the Defender."), it only affects only the card it is on (the Personality), not the whole unit.
But, as seen here, ONLY units are assigned during Manuevers Segments, not Personalities.
Therefore, the trait MUST affect Jairuzu's unit, not just him exclusively.

Having slept on this, I have to agree that the initial ruling is incorrect.
