Rapid Deployment

L5R CCG Rules board, 13 December 2007 to 20 December 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I control a Samurai at the current battlefield and have 2 Personalities at home. One of them was already in a battle resolution this Attack Phase as the Attacker. Does the Blind Card Rule allow me to play Rapid Deployment targeting these two Personalities or is it an illegal play? Thank you!

You can target them. Any movement on the already-resolved Personality simply can not take effect. That effect fails. The movement of the other Personality is unimpeded.

Zen Faulkes (rules official), 20 December 2007

The above ruling is incorrect. You cannot attempt to move a unit in, because it's a rulebook prohibition on taking the action (http://rules.l5r.com/Glossary_C#Cannot), not negation.

Additional: Marty's ruling above is now correct. The rules concerning moving units that had already been in battle has changed somewhat. Instead of the action being prohibited, the movement fails (not negation).
