The Elements' Path & Ring of Fire

L5R CCG Rules board, 29 October 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 29 October 2007

Situation: Monk A and Monk B are at a battlefield. Monk A has the ability on "Ring of Fire" copied to it From "The Element's Path".

Can I use the ability on Monk A to target and destroy Monk B to pay the cost of the ability? Or do I need to target Monk A since he is performing it?

The Elements' Path Kiho Open: Target one of your Monks and one of your non-Void Rings: Permanently copy an ability from the Ring to the Monk. The Monk permanently need not bow to pay costs of the copied action.

Ring of Fire Focus Effect: You may give this card -2 Focus Value. If you do, and you win this duel, put this card into play. Battle: Bow this card or discard it from your hand, and destroy one of your target Personalities: Destroy a target Personality opposing him with lower Chi.
