Re - Alternative use of Lion's Strength

L5R CCG Rules board, 6 October 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

regarding this : viewtopic.php?f=59&t=62162

there are two targets with this action :

the first one is an opposed Lion Clan Personality. the second is a "Personality not at the current battlefield".

if he chooses the same personality, the problem i see is that the action doesn't move the first target So he did target a personality not at the current battlefield and the action doesn't move it. So it is not legal.

Or does the fact that the second target is the same as the first override the problem i showed?

thanks

The Lion's Strength: there are two targets with this action:

the first one is an opposed Lion Clan Personality. the second is a "Personality not at the current battlefield".

Please direct me to where in the Comprehensive Rules that it says that targeting as a cost and required targeting as an effect cannot be met by the same card.

If this was one sentence that said, "Target an opposed Lion and a Personality not at the current battlefield," that would require two cards (http://rules.l5r.com/Special_wording_rules#Conjunctions). But The Lion's Strength isn't written that way.
