Burn it down twice, again

L5R CCG Rules board, 27 August 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

concerning the updated answers in that question: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=60906

I am quite surprised that it is possible to use a second burn it down on the same ranged attack. Here is the text of the samourai burn it down:

Reaction: After you announce an action with a Ranged Attack effect: One of the Ranged Attacks may target this battlefield’s province instead of an enemy card. If it does, reduce the province’s strength by the Ranged Attack’s strength when it resolves.

It says : "instead of an enemy card" so as i understand it the second time that instead close would not mean anything and the action will not does anything as the second clause "if it does" will not be activated.

Could you please tell me where am i wrong?

Burn it down: "instead of an enemy card" so as i understand it the second time that instead close would not mean anything and the action will not does anything as the second clause "if it does" will not be activated.

"If it does" only asks "Did it target a Province?" There are no other conditions to get the effect.
