L5R CCG Rules board, 16 August 2007 to 17 August 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

When you target a Crane samurai you own as per the stronghold's battle action, is it considered that he performed the action, even though the ranged attack came from MSD?

We believe this to be so but we would like clarification so that we can have a consensus.

Thanks.

http://rules.l5r.com/Glossary_P-Q#Perform: "A Personality or Follower is performing an action if its controller is the player taking the action, and any of these things is true:

"The action comes from an ability on the Personality or Follower." Does not apply.

"The action comes from an ability on an Item or Spell in the Personality’s unit." Does not apply.

"The Personality or Follower was targeted by targeting in the ability’s constraints block (between the two colons)." Ding ding ding ding ding!

If it helps, think of the Crane in question as calling in an artillery strike from the castle's orbiting death-laser.
