Ambush and Ring of the Void (L5R rules board)

Ambush does not create an Attack Phase in Samurai Edition. So will battle action cards during the ambush count as action cards played during the Limited/Open Phase?

Ring of the Void Void After you successfully resolve your fourth or later non-Kiho action from Action cards in one phase: You may put his card into play from your hand. Open: Bow this card or discard it from your hand: If any player has more cards in his hand than you do, or if you bowed this card, draw a card.

Ambush Limited: Target one of your unbowed Personalities: Create a battlefield (not at any province). Assign your Personality to attack there. Assign another player’s target Personality to defend there, even if bowed. No other units may move there. Fight a battle there. After it ends, lose 5 Honor.

There is no "Limited / Open" Phase, so I'm assuming you mean the Action Phase.
