General Samurai Rules Question: Chi Death vs. Negation pt2

L5R CCG Rules board, 26 June 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Couple of questions.

1. What if its not a negative chi token, what if it just says give them -2chi. With regards to "negate the destruction". Will this still result in chi death?

2. If not was the point in changing chi loss to a "card effect" meant just so it could be reacted to? Cause this seems just like lotus, where you can negate the destruction, but its really pointless cause you just die again anyway from a rulebook effect, this is still the case with this ruling making the reaction on Hida Yaheiko ineffective in this case, also the trait on the new stronghold of "Before another players card effect destroys one of you samurai. Delay the destruction until the current turn ends" Will this be able to delay chi peanlty destruction?

This all seems very samey to me. Chi loss just seems like the effect in game that will never be able to be stood against. Personally I think it needs to be looked at. Sorry for the rant but it has been a large thorn in the side of Crab players for the last two story arcs. We are the clan of very low Chi?

Thanks for your time.

If the Personality's Chi is 0 after the destruction in negated, he is still doomed.

Not sure if there's a second question in there.
