Will

L5R CCG Rules board, 21 June 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I have a question about the card "Will". Battle:Target a dead Samurai Personality in your discard pile and pay his printed Gold cost minus 4: If he would be oppossed, bring him into play at the current battlefield ignoring costs and restrictions. Does the ignore costs include the "printed Gold cost minus 4" or is the "If he would be opposed" saying that is the only way the card can be used?

I Hope I explained my question in a way it makes sense Thanks in advance for your help

"If he would be opposed" determines if he enters play or not. The costs and restrictions of the personality entering play are ignored, if he does enter play. The "Printed gold cost minus 4" is the cost of Will itself, and not of the personality, so you must pay that before the action on Will resolves.
