A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Tales of Battle
Reaction: After battle resolution destroys one or more Personalities, bow two of your target Courtiers: Each player gains 1 Honor for each of his honorably dead Personalities and loses 2 Honor for each of his dishonorably dead Personalities.
There are 2 honorable dead personalities in my dicard pile and this is played.
Are there 2 gains of 1
or
1 gain of 2
There is some contention among my constituents regarding this.

Comprehensive Rules, Glossary, For Each: "Proportional effects using the term 'for each,' such as 'Gain 1 Honor for each Samurai you control,' should be interpreted as a single effect rather than numerous separate effects. In this instance, a player controlling 3 Samurai would gain 3 Honor at once, not 1 Honor three separate times." (Emphasis added.)
One gain.
