Overlaying effects (L5R rules board)

When overlaying, the card that overlayed gains any abilities and effects from the card they overlayed onto. My question is, do they game the effects printed in the text box ona card as well?

For Example: Does the experienced Doji Domotai gain the effect that she wins ties in duels when she overlays, or is it lost when you overlay?

Doji Domotai (nonexperienced)

Crane Clan Samurai • Soul of Doji Reju

If Domotai ties in a duel, she wins the duel instead of losing.

Doji Domotai (epxerienced)

Crane Clan Samurai • Clan Champion • Duelist • Experienced • Unique

Reaction: After Domotai wins a duel: She gains a Force bonus equal to the highest Focus Value she focused in the duel. She may give another target Samurai the same Force bonus.
