Traveling Magistrate

L5R CCG Rules board, 25 May 2007 to 14 August 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

i'm not 100% sure on how to parse traveling magistrate.

is it

a. When paying a Gold Cost of a <fate card> or <an action during battle> : pay 2

OR

b. When paying a Gold Cost of a <fate card or an action> during battle: pay 2

that is to say, paying 2 for a fate card: anytime or only during battle?

thanks.

Any Fate card at any time, or an action only during a battle.

Modifiers attached to a phrase in the form of "a [modifier] X or Y" or "a [modifier] X and Y" modify both things in that phrase. Example: "A Shadowlands Shugenja or Monk" means "a Shadowlands Shugenja or a Shadowlands Monk." If "a Monk or a Shadowlands Shugenja" is meant, it will be written that way. Likewise, "a Shugenja or Monk without attachments" means "a Shugenja without attachments or a Monk without attachments."

Fate card during battle, or action during battle.
