TTT: Duelling General Ruling Clarification Required

L5R CCG Rules board, 23 May 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Afternoon,

As TTT seems to be on general release, I'm going to request an explanation with regards to the General Ruling on the TTT rulesheet.

General ruling: Challenges can not be refused unless they explicitly say they may be refused. Duels do not destroy the loser as a default effect.

I just want to check if this ruling applies to pre-existing duel cards within the Lotus environment. Certain duel cards do not state the end result of the duel - for instance, Mirumoto Hirohisa, who states:

Battle: Target an opposing Personality. Once per turn, Hirohisa issues him an unrefusable challenge.

If this was to run under the rulesheet general ruling, then the duel would do nothing, beyond cycling your fate deck.

Can you please just clarify if it applies to the cards already in the environment?

Cheers,

Dysartes
