Earthen Guardians Please

L5R CCG Rules board, 20 May 2007 to 27 May 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Ok, so how about now?

Ok, so the new earthen guardians card creates the personality at the current battlefield, even if the caster is at home (I assume it can also create from one battlefield to another).

If I am the attacker at a province, and both armies are empty, does this satisfy the rule of presence, because I am creating a unit at the current battlefield?

Or because on the card it says on the card to create the new personality "in the current army", and the current army contains no defenders, there is no current army, and therefore does not work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lotus rules, pg. 51: "Rule of Presence... is satisfied if... The Battle or Open action he wants to use will result in him controlling a unit there, unconditionally."

Rules Archive, Battle: "An empty army can be 'joined.'"

Yes.
