Control Effects Update [Precedent Reversal]

L5R CCG Rules board, 17 November 2005

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from the Wayback Machine (its copy), so posts it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A pretty simple one here folks, having consulted Design to cover all the bases.

Taking control of something when you already have control of it fails.

This follows the same vein as other changes like Dishonoring a Dishonored Personality failing.

Consequently, in the case of an Action that instructs you to take control of a card, and then later to give control to the player you took the card from, both effects fail - the first because you already control the card, and the second because you never took control of the card from anyone.
