Confounding Departure

L5R CCG Rules board, 18 July 2015 to 22 July 2015

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Confounding Departure "Battle, 1: Bow a target enemy card; if the target has any attachments, they must be bowed."

Is the word "bowed" a verb or an adjective? In other words... 1) Am I required to target attachments if the personality has any (whether bowed or unbowed)? or 2) If I target a personality with attachments, then must the attachments already be in a bowed state? or 3) Something else.

I guess part of the confusion is that this card doesn't appear to follow the usual wording for either 1 or 2 above. (Why not say "target a card without attachments" for number 1 or "without unbowed attachments" for 2?)

Thanks,

Thanks,

In this context, it's an adjective.

The text is equivalent to, "Bow a target enemy card without unbowed attachments."
