Stain Upon the Soul

L5R CCG Rules board, 29 June 2015 to 30 June 2015

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hello everybody. There is a discrepancy in intent between the original wording and the Oracle wording of Stain Upon the Soul.

Kiho Open: Bow any one of your Monks or Shugenja. Target any one of your Monks. The target Monk gains Force and Chi bonuses equal to the Force and Chi of the caster. Until the end of the turn, if the target Monk is destroyed, so is the caster.

Battle/Open: Bow your performing Monk or Shugenja and target another of your unbowed Monks: Give him a Force and Chi bonus equal to the performer's Force and Chi. Until the turn ends, after the target is destroyed, also destroy the performer.

The original wording allowed the caster to target themselves (albeit they would be bowed). The Oracle wording adds the requirement that the target be another Monk.

Thank you for the heads-up! We'll let our Oracle expert know and ensure the card has the correct Oracle text.
