An Honored Guest + Recruiting (Reserve)

L5R CCG Rules board, 22 June 2015 to 23 June 2015

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 22 June 2015

An honored guest Interrupt: Permanently give +1PH to a target Personality the action is Recruiting. You may Proclaim him even if he does not have your Clan Alignment.

After a player announces a Recruit action or an action with Recruit as an effect, he or she may choose to Proclaim the Personality being recruited if he has the player’s Clan Alignment and is being Recruited from a Province.

A player may only Proclaim once per turn and only on his or her own turn.

If Proclaiming is chosen, then after the Personality enters play, add the Personality’s Personal Honor to the player’s Family Honor.

Proclaiming gives the Proclaim keyword to the recruiting action. Honor gains from Proclaiming are from the rulebook Recruit action, or from the rulebook Recruit procedure if the action calling it was on a card.

Situation: It's my turn, and I'm attacking my opponent. They recruit a reserve personality during the battle from their province. May I interrupt with An honored Guest and proclaim him?

The modification to the Proclaim procedure from An Honored Guest only allows you to override the restriction that the Personality normally must have your Clan alignment. It does not allow you to override the fact that the player recruiting the Personality must be the one to choose to Proclaim them.
