A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi, Why An act of disdain doesn't target an enemy personality like the old version? I think it has to do with the new comprehensive rules (maybe they make the mention of target redundant), but I'm having trouble explaining it to a friend. Thanks!
An act of disdain: Political Open: Destroy your target unbowed Courtier Personality with 3 or more Personal Honor. After each time (this turn) another player's target Personality assigns or an action on a card in his unit resolves, dishonor him and gain 3 Honor.

The term "enemy" is only used in conjunction with Personalities during battle. However, An Act of Disdain does target "another player's" Personality, so the only way I can think of that wouldn't have the same effect as "enemy" would be in a team-game like Siege.
