When over paying for discipline, reserve and any other actions during the battle phase, does the gold carry over to other battlefields? or just that one battle.

Gold in your pool is taxed at the end of the Phase. If the battle is during an Attack Phase, gold in your pool will be available for other battles; for battles during the Action Phase, gold in your pool will be available for actions for the rest of the Action Phase.
