Items on bowed peeps.

L5R CCG Rules board, 28 April 2015 to 1 May 2015

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

It's been a while since I played and I just got back into 20f. I was playing my friends crane duelist deck vs a Spider fear deck and this case came up. Couldn't figure it out after looking at every rules guide. Here's the case: I had Kakita Shinichi with his sword and Kakita Daitsu with his sword at the same battlefield vs a dishonred Nao who had reinforced Parangu and Do-maru attached. Therefore Shinichi would be at 5F and I believe 4C. Both items on Nao create a fear 2 and do not require bowing the item. I had bowed Nao through I believe another peeps printed action (sorry the name escapes me.) Opposing player also had the terrain that increased fear affects by 1. So can Nao use the items and combine their affects for enough fear to bow shinichi?

As long as the items were unbowed and can use their abilities, you can use them even if the Personality is bowed. In this case, from the information you've given (a few cards aren't named, so I can't look them up) you should be able to use a Fear effect to bow Shinichi.
