A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Following controversial http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=113486, I have some questions about cards memory and conditions of "return to your hand" phrase.
1) If I apply this ruling to example of spell "See The Many Faces" that may be attached from discard pile and assume it was discarded from deck not hand, I see that we cannot "return it to my hand" with Diligent Care.
2) But if what if attachment was in my hand, went into play, left it going face-down and then entered play without going through my hand again? Particular sequence would be e.g.: Draw STMF Attach it to Ninube Shiho Use Ninube's action Discard top fate card with Doji Bukita Attach STMF from discard pile to any void shugenja Interrupt another players Your True Nature with Diligent Care
What happens to my spell?
That in topic of questions. I would also like to note my support to Bayushi Akai in term of concern about rules consistency. Number of bizzare rulebending made to fix imprecisely and poorly worded cards is increasing lastly.

Please do not editorialize in your rules questions. If you feel a ruling is controversial you can discuss that elsewhere, it does not belong in rules forum posts.
1. Correct, you cannot put it back into your hand with Diligent Care. 2. Once the card goes face down and out of play, its card memory is gone. Essentially once See The Many Faces goes back onto your deck facedown, the game no longer treats it as the same copy of See The Many Faces.
