Do I have to target two cards of the same type (i.e. Two personalities (2 dynasty) or a weapon and a follower (2 fate)) or can I target a personality and a follower (1 dynasty and 1 fate)?

You may target one of each. It specifies "Dynasty or Fate" to prevent targeting strongholds and sensei.
