Spell and Shugenja Text

L5R CCG Rules board, 19 March 2015 to 23 March 2015

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Just a quick question,

With Shugenja no longer being a bold keyword (and therefore has no extension to the rulebook) I had a question about spells that don't have the word "shugenja" in their text.

For example, could I attach Ancestral Aid to a non-shugenja and still use it's battle ability?

Cheers!

Ancestral Aid (Spell) Battle, Bow: Move your target Personality home.

No. Per the 20F CR's entry on Spells:

Spells, with a light blue background, have no Force or Chi stats or modifiers. They will only attach to a Shugenja Personality, and their abilities can only be used (“cast”) if attached to a Shugenja.
