There is slight difference in wording of 9 fear enhancing Interrupts/traits on 20F legal cards. Way of the Spider, Show of Power, Okura is Released, Uguisu, spider monk Nao and two Unicorns Moto Nergui and Alani enhance only fear effect of the action, usually making it lethal (at least for some card types). But there are two exceptions from that trend. Daigotsu Kanpeki and Susumu Yanada influence whole fear action, which means they can be used to to destroy fear action "performer" (here understood as card causing fear) as well as sole fear effect target. In practice it only works with Yanada, as Kanpeki affects only followers, but here goes an example:
If my opponent is about to play Unassailable Defense and I interrupt it with Yanada Personality bowed to produce his action fear is also "bowed by fear action" - as: 1) fear action, like in Daigotsu Geiko trait, is understood as any action containing fear effect and 2) bowing "by action" (literally "cards action bows") applies to any cards bowed by any fragment of action, as in Hakuseki Sensei case.
Anyway Yanada appears to be unintended counter against many fear actions starting with Bitter Lies Technique, ending at Bushido Scourge.
Interrupt, The Fear action destroys any cards it bows.
Battle: Bow your target unbowed Personality. Fear with strength equal to his Force. If he is a Yojimbo, and you control a Courtier or Shugenja (at any location), after each card bows from the Fear, destroy it.
