Re: Failing to Equip

L5R CCG Rules board, 17 December 2014 to 18 December 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Regarding this: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=111376

When my original question was answered (this one), I tought about the posibility of using the equip action to pass without passing. Then, another player in my playgroup pointed out that if I do that, my opponent can also use a failed equip, and if I try to do it again, I start an infinite loop, and since I was the one that started it, it is my responsability under the rules to take a different action or pass, since the board state is not changing (at least, I remember something about infinite loops in the old rules, but I can't find it now)

I post this, first to ask verification on this, and second -if this si correct- as a way to deal with this kind of play.

Thanks!

Yes, that will absolutely work. It's then the job of a judge to tell both players to advance the game state.

"Equipping without equipping" deliberately is failure to advance the game state, and should be treated as stalling by judges.
