Hi Rules Team,
A topic popped up on the L5R Facebook page that piqued my interest and I thought to ask here about it. I've tried searching "never without a weapon" but the search never returns (too many common search terms?), and "gold costs" pulls up WAY too many results to be useful. So, the question:
Let's assume that I have Never Without a Weapon in my hand. I pay the 5 gold cost requirement for it and then discard the card Focus for a 5FV value, creating a 5F weapon.
What is the gold cost of the weapon that's now attached to my target personality? Is it 0GC, because the attached card doesn't have a printed Gold Cost? Is it 5GC, because of the gold I paid to create it? Basically, how do we properly determine the gold cost of Items that we pay to create, even though they don't have a printed gold cost? Thanks!
Battle, 5G : Discard a card to create a Weapon Item with a Force Modifier equal to the discarded card's Focus Value and attach it to your target Personality.

Unless set by the effect that created the card, a created card's Gold Cost is 0. (CR, page 47, see Created Cards)
