I assume so since we classify spells as an element based on their ability's keywords, and Firestorm Legion had a Fire battle abilit .

Firestorm Legion is a Follower, not a Personality. See p36-37 of the Ivory Edition basic rulebook, available online here.
It is indeed, however, a Fire Follower.
