A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

"Void Interrupt: Negate a Battle action. Destroy this Spell. Remove the caster's unit from the game, keeping all attachments and tokens, and ignoring leaving-play effects. Return it to play before the turn ends, ignoring entering-play costs and effects."
I am guessing that negating a Battle action is not a cost, meaning you could interrupt anything with this Spell, even if it has no relativity whatsoever with the Shugenja carrying the spell (for whatever dark reasons you might want to do so). Correct?

Yes. Feel free to Interrupt The End is Near with this.
