Legulus and ranged attacks

L5R CCG Rules board, 26 August 2014 to 2 September 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

If you combine 2 ranged 3 attacks to target a card in legulus's unit, do both attacks receive a -3 penalty, or does the total ranged attack made receive the penalty?

If you combine 2 ranged 3 attacks to target a card in legulus's unit, do both attacks receive a -3 penalty, or does the total ranged attack made receive the penalty?

The combining attacks aren't considered attacks in their own right when used as an Interrupt to bolster the original one; they are bonuses to its strength. Thus, Legulus would only give the total strength one -3 penalty, not -3 for each combined one.
