Targeting and Planted Evidence

L5R CCG Rules board, 11 July 2014 to 19 July 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 11 July 2014

My opponent has one 3 Chi person in play. I also have a 3 chi person in play with Interrupt the Void's flow. No other personalities are in play. My opponent plays Planted Evidence, and I interrupt with the spell, which removes my person from the game before they can be destroyed. Does my opponent then have to target and destroy his own personality?

Yes. The targeting is mandatory, so if when it occurs there is only one legal target, that target must be chosen.
