Bridged Pass / Garrison vs. Determined Force

L5R CCG Rules board, 26 June 2014 to 29 June 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 26 June 2014

Garrison reads, in the Oracle:

All your actions are considered to satisfy the Rule of Presence during battles at this card's battlefield, and taking an action which attaches or transfers this card to a province is an exception to the Rule of Presence during battles at that province's battlefields.

Determined Force's second Reaction reads:

Reaction: Before the resolution of a Battle action taken by another player who controlled no units at the current battlefield when the action was announced, if none of the action's effects can move the other player's units to the current battlefield: The action's effects do not happen.

So my opponent has Garrison and Bridged Pass at the province I'm attacking. He uses Bridged Pass - can I react with Det Force? The condition is still valid in spite of Garrison, yes?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 29 June 2014

So my opponent has Garrison and Bridged Pass at the province I'm attacking. He uses Bridged Pass - can I react with Det Force? The condition is still valid in spite of Garrison, yes?

Correct.

Incidentally, the answer would've been the same even under Garrison's old wording, too. But hey, that's what the Oracle is for; to make things clearer.
