Aranai Sensei / Aramasu's Mask

L5R CCG Rules board, 25 May 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

By itself, the wording of Aranai Sensei isn't a problem and is easy to figure out:

Your Personalities with 3 or more Chi have Tactician. Unless they have the printed Tactician keyword, they do not have the Tactical Advantage ability.

The word "they" clearly refers to "Your Personalities with 3 or more Chi."

But if I have both Aranai Sensei and a Personality like Moshi Rukia in play and I attach Aramasu's Mask to her, then I think the Sensei might have the unintended effect of keeping Rukia from using Tactical Advantage. Is this the case? If so, does the Sensei need some sort of technical rewording, perhaps to something like, "Your Personalities with 3 or more Chi have Tactician. Unless they have the printed Tactician keyword or have it from another source, they do not have the Tactical Advantage ability."?

That is indeed the case. Whether it was unintended or not isn't for me to say, but...

...I'll ask.
