A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

It is my understanding that interrupts cannot be taken without presence. I just wanted to clear something up for a deck I put together.
1) At home, I bow Aimi and discard a card. I can then bow Reverse Fate on a Shug at home to increase by 1 and use the interrupt on Voice. Is that correct?
2) At Battle, I discard a card for my Tactician's Advantage, can I then use the Voice interrupt or is it considered at home? Also would the Shug be able to interrupt with Reverse Fate from home or would they be required to be at the battle?

Only cards in units are bound by the Rule of Location. Holdings are not cards in units, so abilities on them can be used even though they are not at the current battlefield (exception: Fortifications). Spells in play are cards in units, so non-Home abilities on them - such as Reverse Fate's - may not be used while the card is not at the current battlefield.
