Hi, Breaking the Rhythm has a trait that, if focused, gives the controller of the winner +1 honor. If the winner's personality in the duel was dishonored prior to the duel, will this rehonor him? It does not seem clear from the Ivory Comprehensive Rules: "Before a player gains one or more points of Honor from an action or trait that targeted or came from one or more of his or her dishonorable Personalities." In this sentence, I am not sure if a trait on a focus card "targeted or came from" my personality?
Rehonor from focus traits
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Focused cards and their Focus effects rarely target anything, and certainly Breaking the Rhythm doesn't. In general, all targeting is always explicit. If it doesn't use the word "target", then it doesn't target.
Focusing Breaking the Rhythm during a duel won by your dishonored Personality will gain you the Honor point and your Personality will remain dishonored.
