Unworded "Favor" Keyworded Actions?

L5R CCG Rules board, 22 April 2014 to 23 April 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

It is still unclear if all abilities on cards printed before Coils of Madness which have "discard the Imperial Favor" as a cost (now probably an effect) should be re-drafted with the "Favor" keyword. I searched in the Comprehensive Rules (p51-52), but this information is not explicitly stated.

Cards like "Insulting Gesture" or "Arrival of the Emerald Champion" are still not updated in OotV, but the database update could take a long time so it is neither a confirmation nor an invalidation.

However, this question is very important for Illumination deck in Legacy and Big deck formats and nothing can be deckbuilded without this information. Thank you for your clarification.

No, they should not.

At some point these may be updated to become Favor actions in Oracle, but until that time, nothing has been released saying that they should be treated as such.

And that time is now! I just finished putting "Favor" on all actions I the Oracle that have "Discard the Imperial Favor to..." do something in them.

Sorry that the entirety of the Oracle, and the Legacy Rules themselves, are not quite up to Ivory-wording standards yet, but it's been a very busy few months. Rest assured, the work continues....
