Togashi Ogure and Come One at a Time

L5R CCG Rules board, 3 April 2014 to 21 April 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi, just to be sure: My opponent attacks with Tsuruchi carrying Ominous Armor, and I defend with Togashi Ogure. As my first battle action, I play his battle action, gaining two additional actions. My first battle action is to play Come One at a Time. I then take an additional battle action granted by COaaT to use the repeatable duel also granted by COaaT to duel Tsuruchi (successfully), killing the armor. I then take an additional battle action granted by Ogure's ability to use the repeatable duel granted by COaaT to duel Tsuruchi (successfully), killing Tsuruchi.

Please could you tell me if this is legal? My question is basically about timing. Ogure's additional actions would be split here, with the additional COaaT action occurring in the middle of them. Can I choose to play it like this, or does the additional action from COaaT have to come after Ogure's second additional action, because it was played after Ogure's ability?

Additional actions are taken in the order they are gained, and you must adhere to any restrictions those additional actions have.

In your example: You defend with Ogure. You announce his printed action, bow your Ring and finish resolving the action. (You now have 2 additional actions) You used 1 Additional Action to play Come One At A Time. (You once again have 2 additional actions, one of which must be an ability granted by COaaT) You can now use the restriction free additional action, which can be anything, even the granted action from COaaT. You can now use the one limited to the COaaT granted ability.

Hope that helps!
