Emotional Champion's Tactics

L5R CCG Rules board, 3 April 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A situation came up where we didn't know how to resolve the order of actions.

Here's the situation: It is the other player's turn and I have a Cavalry personnality in play. As an Open, I play Open Emotion, revealing A Champion's Tactics. Later that turn, my opponent declares an attack. During the Engage Segment of one of the battles, I have the opportunity to play my A Champion's Tactics moving in my Cavalry personnality and gain an additional action [printed on a card in that unit]. The complicated part comes when I try to Interrupt my A Champion's Tactics with Journey's End.

1. Is it legal to play a Journey's End in that scenario ? 2. If so, which "additional" Battle action comes first ? The one "printed on a card in the unit that moved" (from A Champion's Tactics) or the "normal" additional (from Journey's End) ?

I would say no, because you're playing A Champion's Tactics "as an Engage action" (Open Emotion's card text), therefore A Journey's End would not be interrupting a "Battle action". (ie The action is legal to take but would fail)
