Confirming this works:
My opponent declares an attack with one or more Cavalry units. I defend with at least one province. He chooses to resolve a province's battlefield where I am not defending and takes it by moving the Cavalry unit out of the battle where I defended. When it comes time to resolve the battle at the province I am defending and my opponent passes, I pass and go home. Am I able to play the Ring of Earth because I was opposed at some point and the province wasn't destroyed?
