Blistering Rain w/ Rae Sensei

L5R CCG Rules board, 24 December 2013 to 25 December 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Sorry if I'm jumping the gun here on the IvE question. It appears that they are already being asked and answered, but, if this is too soon then I'll ask later.

Blistering Rain- Give a target Personality or Follower a Force penalty equal to your target Personality's Chi.

Rae Sensei- Actions on your Spells have Home if you target your Samurai with them.

Does Rae Sensei allow you to cast Blistering Rain from home as long as you are targeting a samurai when you check the 'your target personality' part of Blistering Rain?

When taking into consideration that IvE is streamlining the rules and card interactions, I see Blistering Rain targeting and since I targeted my samurai, Rae Sensei seems to allow me to cast this spell from home, however..........

Sailor's Warning- Target your Personality. Ranged Attack with strength equal to his Chi. Destroy this Spell.

This spell is worded in a slightly different format and causing some confusion when trying to interpret how Blistering Rain is played.

Help, please and thank you

If you have Rae Sensei and you control a Samurai at the current battle, you can use Blistering Rain as a Home ability, and then you must target the Samurai with it. The order of the targets isn't really relevant, as long as at some point of the action's effects you do target your Samurai with it.
